Lincoln Physical Education provides a diverse and unique variety of sports and activities. Walking, Running, Weight training, Core Training, Comprehensive Team games, Team sports, Volleyball, Soccer, Badminton, Basketball, Track, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Swimming, CPR training, Jump Rope and Dancing. Students must achieve 10 credits in this  course to fulfill the graduation requirements.

CURRICULUM

Team, Individual and Dual sports, Health related fitness activities, Cooperative games, Jogging/Walking days,

and completion of the California Physical Fitness tests.

 

DAILY EXPECTATIONS

·       DEMONSTRATE PROPER CONDUCT & POSITIVE ATTITUDE IN CLASS & LOCKER ROOM      

·       BE PREPARED TO LISTEN & FOLLOW DIRECTIONS     

·       ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR OWN BEHAVIOR

·       DRESS IN REQUIRED PE UNIFORM 

·       PARTICIPATE IN CLASS ACTIVITIES, CLASSWORK & HOMEWORK

 

LETTER GRADE PERCENTAGES

A = 90–100%     B = 80-89%      C = 70-79%      D = 60-69%      F = Less than 60%

Grades are based on 60% participation, 20% run day and 20% written and practical/skills testing.

 

GRADING

      All gradesare based on points Earned and Lost.  The total points earned at the end of each 6-week grading period

      determine the final 6-week grade.  The semester grade is based on the total average of each 6-week letter grade.

Minus pointswill be deducted for not being dressed in complete PE uniform, non-participation, not following directions,

poor behavior, gum/food/drinks, fighting, referrals, class cuts, incomplete assignments, unexcused absences and tardiness.

Excuses from Class: A written note from parent/guardian is required if a student is to be excused from class.  A medical

note, signed by a doctor, must be obtained for absences longer than 3 days.  Medical notes should also state how long the

student is to be excused from PE with a tentative return date along with any precautions or limitations.

 

EXPECTATIONS/DISCIPLINE

Students are to treat classmates, adults and the learning environment with respect and courtesy. Not following school rules

will result in the following sequence of consequences: verbal warning, points deducted, phone call home, referral and

possible suspension from class or school. Students may be asked to participate in Lincoln’s Beautification Project which

may entail cleaning, sweeping or picking up trash.

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORMS

All students are required to wear an Abraham Lincoln Physical Education uniform, which consists of a red/yellow

gym shirt and red shorts.  ALHS sweatpants and sweat tops can also be purchased.  Any non-ALHS sweats must be

in school colors of red/yellow.  PE uniforms can be purchased (CASH ONLY) from the PE Department for:

$15 Shirts, $15 Shorts, $20 Sweat pants, $25 Hoodies. Please talk to your teacher or department head if there is a financial hardship

 

LOCKERS

PE lockers are provided to every student.  PE lockers or combinations are not to be shared.  Lockers are to be kept clean and all schoolbooks are to be kept in hall lockers.
