Attn. ninth-graders: Application deadline for geometry summer school extended to May 8

This summer, SFUSD is offering a twenty-eight day intensive Geometry course for incoming sophomores who are completing CCSS Algebra 1 in their freshman year and would like to take CCSS Algebra 2 (or Algebra 2 + Precalculus) during their regular academic year as 10th graders. This course satisfies SFUSD’s requirement for a full year (10 units) of CCSS Geometry. Class will meet from June 5 to July 14, excluding the July 3 and 4holidays, from 8 am until 2 pm daily at Galileo High School, and will include nightly homework.

Enrollment in the summer intensive Geometry course is limited. Students must have received a B or better in their SFUSD Algebra 1 course, and students who are eligible for Free and Reduced Price Lunch will be selected first for seats. All remaining seats will be assigned randomly.

SFUSD has received 260 applications from across all high schools for 96 seats. Outreach for this course occurred using the usual summer school outreach methods and the original application deadline was April 30. As we have heard from a few parents that they were not informed of this course, SFUSD is extending the deadline to apply to May 8 in order to ensure that all interested students have the opportunity to apply. For more information about the class and to apply, visit
