I am a native Californian, born and raised in the Bay Area. I am a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a major study in mathematics. After college, I lived in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching math and science to high school students. I have worked in various fields including accounting and pattern-making in the fashion industry, but mostly I have worked as a math and computer teacher for over twenty years.

I am married and have three children. My interests include traveling, playing the piano, quilting, and watching and attending sports events.  I am the sponsor of the Math Club at Lincoln.  The club gives students an opportunity to play games, solve puzzles and math problems, and participate regularly in competitions like the California Math League.
