I am from San Diego and attended Grossmont Community College where I played baseball and earned an Associate’s Degree in General Education. Upon completion I moved to San Francisco and attended San Francisco State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and from there attended San Jose State University where I earned a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. I have been a counselor and AVID coordinator at Abraham Lincoln High School for the past five years and an adjunct professor at University of San Francisco for the past two years. My interests are in teaching and counseling multicultural and underrepresented students, how to support them in our educational systems and in society, equal and consistent education, challenging norms, family school collaboration, alternative teaching, effects of schools on society and society on schools, student identity within school and society, effective leadership of change, school site collaboration and student advocacy. Outside of school my hobbies include reading, spending time with my family and friends, anything that has to do with baseball, exploring the beautiful Bay Area, going to the beach, shopping and eating.
