  • Yearbook Sneak Peek this Friday - The yearbook staff is doing something that we've never done before. At lunch on Friday, March 14 in Room 214, the yearbook staff will be unveiling three full pages from this year's book. Usually, the yearbook is top secret until it's sold to students in June, so come celebrate with us and get a sneak preview of what this year's book will look like. You may also stop by to purchase a book, submit baby pictures or buy adds.
  • To Ms. Walenta and Mr. Aluk and the entire cast of Grease - You guys rock! Thanks for making me feel like a part of the team.
  • The AP U.S. Government Placement Test - will be on Wednesday, March 12 during 7th period or after school. You must have submitted an application to take the test. See Ms. Zeigler in Room 225 with questions.
  • BSA First Rehearsal will be Thursday - immediately after 7th period (1:15 p.m.) in the Auditorium. All participants must attend or risk losing spot in BSA. Plan on staying until 5 p.m. Student Activity passes will be distributed at this rehearsal.
  • BSA Deadlines - Wednesday, March 13 Copy of Music (if applicable), name of food item for International Pot luck dinner and banner due to Mr. Aluk. See Mr. Aluk or Ms. Kamkar with any questions.
  • Class of 2009 - homeroom meeting on Thursday
  • Brownies/Cheesecake orders - wil arrive on Thursday and can be received after school in Room 171. Because items are to be refrigerated, it is very important that all orders be picked up on Thursday. We do not have enough space to keep these items refrigerated. See Mr. Aluk if you have any questions.
  • Attention all who plan to attend Prom this year - The Prestige photographer will be coming by after school on March 11. If you are interested in selecting a backdrop for Prom, please come to room 206.
  • If you are between the ages of 14 & 17 - and would like to volunteer 40 hours at the 42nd International Children's Home from July 10-15 you can complete an application at www.sficg2008.com/youth. You will also need to do a personal statement. For more info see Mr. Scott. K. Scott
  • There is Tutoring available through San Francisco State University's BSU - Call Erin at 818-515-6401 to let them know you are coming. If there is not a better response to the program it will close. Take advantage of this service. There is also SAT tutoring available as well.
  • Mandatory Tobacco Education - for students cited for smoking today during lunch in Room 127. Meet Nurse Rainey. She will tell and show you the real drag about smoking. Think about it. Nurse Rainey
  • Congratulations to Christian Calub and Jsymel Tiongson - who both participated in the Junior and Senior National Weightlifting championships; winning a gold and bronze metal respectively.
  • Have you won a Scholarship or Award? - Be sure to bring a copy of it to the College/Career Center for the Senior Awards Ceremony. MANDATORY.
  • Attention Latino Students - Have you applied yet for the 2008 Hispanic heritage Youth Awards? Awards range from $1000-$5000 grants. Unweighted GPA 3.0. Apply online asap. Deadline is Friday, March 14, 2008. www.HispanicHeritage.org. Click on Youth Awards. Get help in the College/Career Center, 123C.
  • Junior Females: - The Girl Source Program is offering a FREE intensive 10-week SAT prep series that will be taught by a certified SAT prep tutor! This opportunity is for low-income junior girls. The series is from April 3-June 5, prepping for the June 7 SAT. Applications DUE MARCH 20. Please see Ms. Zales in College Center for application and details. More info at www.girlsource.org.
  • PACT College Tours Fieldtrip is coming - March 24th, 9th-11th graders are invited to check out some cool campuses for FREE during Spring Break. We'll even give you breakfast and lunch! We will visit San Jose State, Monterey Peninsula College and CSU Monterey Bay. Don't miss this fun trip. Permission slips are available from Ms. Zales in 123C, no later than March 19. Space is limited, so chop, chop!
  • Attention 10th Graders - Please come to the Sophomore College Prep Workshop with Ms. Zales in Room 127 at lunchtime on Wednesday, March 12. We will cover A-G requirements, the importance of extra-curricular and volunteer activities, and more. Bring a sophomore friend and your questions. See you then.
  • Need a Letter of Recommendation for a Scholarship or Summer Program? - You should give the teacher(s) or counselor(s) you want to write them at least 2 weeks notice. So plan ahead, do not procrastinate.
  • Korean Club - BSA practice after school on Tuesday, 3/11 and Wednesday, 3/12 in room 201. Remember 1st rehearsal is this Thursday from 1:30-5:30 p.m.

  • St. Patrick's Day Luncheon - hosted by the Varsity Gold Show Choir will be held in the Library on Monday, March 17 for $5. Please sign up in the Main Office to attend. There will be a drawing for prizes for those who wear the color green.
  • BSA Information - Next Monday you will receive an important memo from ASB with specific info regarding BSA, which is to be discussed with our students. A seating chart will also be included with this memo. A copy of this memo will be posted in the Main office this week. Beginning this week, we will be taking orders for BSA DVD's for $10 and BSA T-Shirts for $8. We also hope that many of you will attend the International Potluck Dinner on the day of BSA. This is open not only to all Faculty and Staff, but also family members.
